There are several reasons why someone would want to disable comments on their Instagram posts. If you have a strong following, a few users might abuse their privilege and post negative comments, which can lead to disputes and a loss of followers. Even though you can delete individual comments, some users don’t have the time to monitor the comments on their posts. Sometimes, a user might want to post informational content without starting a conversation on their posts.
Whatever reasons you might have, turning off comments on your posts is simple and can be done in one of two ways:
- Go to your profile and locate the post you wish to disable the comments.
Click the three dots on the right of your username. Once you find the “Turn Off Commenting” option, you can choose to turn off or turn on commenting at any time. The comments that have already been posted will disappear.
If you change your mind and decide to turn commenting back on, the previous comments will reappear.
- Before you publish a post, you can choose to disable commenting right away. In the final step where you write a caption, click on “Advanced Settings” at the bottom. Choose the “Turn Off Commenting” option. You can change it again after publishing your post.
